Comprehensive design strategy for Amtrak’s future exterior identification signage across its national network. The objective is to modernize and unify building ID systems through a series of scalable, regionally adaptable monument pylons—Slim Line, Vertical, and Horizontal—each engineered to reflect Amtrak brand standards while responding to local architectural character.

This project defines:

  • Brand-aligned sign typologies featuring the Amtrak Travelmark, logotype, & station-specific information

  • Material and fabrication standards

  • Options for illumination, dimensional elements, and co-branding

  • Regional architectural integration, aligning signage aesthetics with Beaux-Arts, Mid-Century Modern, Craftsman, Spanish Revival, Prairie, Romanesque, and other U.S. station styles

  • Preliminary cost modeling for substrates, finishes, lighting, and labor to support budgeting and capital planning

Overall, the project delivers a nationwide visual strategy that elevates wayfinding clarity, improves consistency across stations, and reinforces Amtrak’s modernized brand presence while respecting the heritage and architectural diversity of each region.
